Frequently asked questions about coaching

Curious about how coaching with me works and what you can expect?
Here are clear answers to the most common questions - so you can decide if coaching is the right step for you.

General Questions

What is coaching?

Coaching is a partnership process in which the coach, through a reflective inquiry, curious questions, and deep listening, helps the client discover their own solutions to the situations they face. I see coaching as a very powerful tool because it invites clients to open up, look at challenges from new perspectives, and find the most suitable way forward. This makes coaching highly sustainable - since the client ultimately knows best which solutions and goals are right for them.

How does coaching really work?

Through powerful questions and reflection coaching enables you to see yourself and your challenges differently - and to create actionable steps forward. Coaching stimulates the part of the brain linked to long-term memory. Through reflective and curious conversations, it helps you learn through insight and lasting awareness.

How does a typical coaching session look like?

After our initial discovery call, we agree on the topics you want to explore. We then meet either online (Google Meet or Zoom) or in person (Budapest area). You share your story, and through deep listening, reflective questions, and dialogue we uncover new perspectives and possibilities. A session usually lasts 45–60 minutes, depending on the topic.

Coaching is often most powerful as a longer process, but sometimes even one strong question can create a breakthrough and bring immediate clarity. At times, you may also receive a practical “homework” task to deepen your reflection between sessions. At the end of each session, we review your insights, agree on next steps, and schedule the following meeting.

What is the difference between coaching, mentoring, and therapy?

Therapy focuses on healing the past, mentoring provides advice based on experience, while coaching empowers you to find your own answers and move toward your goals.

Do I need to have a specific problem to seek for coaching?

Not necessarily. Many clients come with a desire to grow, explore new perspectives, or gain clarity about their next steps. Coaching is not only about solving problems - it’s also about unlocking potential, strengthening confidence, and creating space for new opportunities. I’ve also noticed that, in today’s fast-paced world, many people simply need someone who truly listens without judgment. Sometimes having that safe space to talk things through is exactly what creates the shift - and that is what I wholeheartedly offer.

What is your coaching style?

I don’t apply a fixed concept, because every client is a unique human being. Instead, I focus on deep listening, reflective inquiry, and staying genuinely curious. I pay close attention to emotional shifts, as they often reveal what truly matters. My role is to create a safe space where insights emerge naturally and can lead to meaningful change.

Can I combine coaching with other forms of personal development?

Yes. Coaching can work alongside other personal development methods. What matters most is being clear about what each approach brings - coaching helps you find your own answers, while other methods may provide knowledge or guidance. Used together, they can be highly complementary.

Process and Roles

Will you tell me what to do?

No. My role is not to give you ready-made answers but to guide you in discovering your own solutions that are aligned with your values and goals.

Who is responsible for the outcome of a coaching session?

You are. Coaching is a partnership, but the progress depends on your willingness to reflect, decide, and take action.

What are responsibilities of a coachee?

Show up open and engaged, answer honestly, act on commitments, and make time to reflect between sessions.

What are the responsibilities of a coach?

To create a safe and professional space, listen deeply, ask meaningful questions, hold you accountable - and ensure full confidentiality.

How will I know I'm making progress?

You will notice progress when challenges that once felt heavy or unclear start to feel lighter and more manageable. Coaching often brings moments of realization - when you see a situation from a new angle and what used to be a problem no longer feels like one. Over time, you may feel more confident, focused, and energized, and you’ll start taking actions that reflect the clarity you’ve gained. These shifts - both in how you think and how you feel - are clear signs of progress.

Practical Questions

Do I need to prepare for a session?

Not necessarily. Some clients bring specific topics; others come open to exploring what arises. What matters most is your openness to engage and be suited in a safe/quiet space where you can talk.

Is online coaching as effective as in-person coaching?

Yes. Online sessions offer the same depth of conversation and presence while giving you flexibility and comfort in your own space.

How long does a coaching process usually take?

It varies. Some clients benefit from a few sessions focused on a specific issue, while others prefer a longer journey of several months/year for deeper transformation. We can discuss this during our first discovery call.

How often do coaching sessions typically take place?

Based on my experiences, it is benefical to meet every 2nd - 3rd week. It will give you enough time to take necessary steps and focus on developments.

What results can I expect from coaching?

Most clients gain more clarity, confidence, and courage to make meaningful decisions - both in their professional and personal lives. They realize that they are worthy and don't need to be "fixed" or there is something wrong with them.

How can I be sure that coaching is right for me?

If you feel ready to reflect, grow, and take responsibility for change, coaching can be a powerful tool for you. A free consultation call will help you find out.

What happens if a topic comes up during coaching that is too sensitive for me?

I won't push to discuss anything which client is not ready to discuss. I respect clients's needs and follow natural flow. Yet it is important to know that different emotions can appear which is absolutely fine - this is a sign that we are heading a good direction and client wants to grow.

How does coaching help with work-life balance?

Coaching often brings clarity to your core values and what truly matters to you. Many people discover that they are not fully living in line with these values - often because of external pressures or old habits. Through coaching, you can realign your priorities, create healthier boundaries, and design a career that is not only successful but also fulfilling. When work supports your growth and happiness, it naturally reflects in your personal life as well. Everything is connected, and coaching helps uncover the small gaps that, once addressed, lead to a more balanced and meaningful life.
